E-ssential Message # 026:
The Power of Positive (Positioning) Thinking.

I never thought of myself as a 'motivational' speaker, but I finally realized why people get motivated in my keynotes and workshops.

It all started while I was in the car, listening to a motivational CD. The speaker was talking about how important it is to think positively. It's not a new idea -- I'm sure you've heard about the value of positive affirmations and how you can use your own self-talk to boost your confidence, enhance your experience of life and dramatically improve the results you get. That's what the top business leaders, athletes and other highly successful people do.

I made a promise to myself that when I got back to the office, I'd write out a number of positive affirmations and tape them to the walls around my office. But when I got back and sat down in front of my computer, I saw that I had already taped my positioning statement right in front of me. Here's what it says:

"I specialize in helping consultants and advisors develop and leverage their Essential Message to get all the clarity they need, and the business they want."

If I were looking for a positive affirmation, I wouldn't have to look any further than my own positioning statement. And that's why I realize, when I help people develop their own positioning statements in my keynotes, workshops and coaching, I am actually giving them one of the most powerful tools to their boost their confidence, enhance their experience of life and dramatically improve the results they get.

And I've got to tell you, it works whether you're a one-person consultancy, an executive in transition, or an employee of large corporation as well as for the corporation as a whole.

So if you don't have a positioning statement for yourself or your company yet, write it today. And if you already have one, tape it to the walls in your office. Use it as a welcome message when you turn on your computer. Put it into your screen saver. And plant it firmly in your self-talk before you go into every sales conversation, presentation and business meeting.

As the motivational speaker says on the CD I was listening to, "It only works."
